The links have been deleted because I received a DMCA takedown by Microsoft for this file so mediafire removed access to the file in error. Quite stupid if you ask me.

God knows why because the file isn't even owned by Microsoft. But Qualcomm/Atheros.

However you can still find it in the main bundle collection.

Under what conditions are these supposed to work for the Atheros AR9271/UB91C ?

I couldn't get them to detect my 036NHA adapter here - Win7 x64.

The 10.0.0.338 that is....

Disregard the 64-bit versions (they never worked properly). In fact even the 32-bit versions can be screwy depending *which* driver get's used.

As for tweaking the output power in windows forget it. Atheros is always region locked and the firmware doesn't take kindly to tampering at all to bypass, and will reduce the output power to worse than useless levels even further if you try. :)

There a no known tools available to edit the 9271 firmware unlike Ralink or Realtek.

I'm re-uploading 10.0.0.28 to my mediafire acc. Let's hope M$ don't try to take it down again this time.

10.0.0.28

https://www.mediafire.com/?r1niiwdh6bizlsp

Other quirks I've noticed recently about the AR9271 drivers

Version 9.2.0.19 for Windows 7 is the *ONLY* driver available which works correctly in 150mbps mode for Win7. In fact 150mbps connect rate is what the adapter is specified for on the box, rather than being just N in name only.

I.e. When the AP is set to 40Mhz channel 300mbps mode. And 72.2 when the channel mode is 20mhz.

All the other drivers beginning 2.0.0.x only give max connection rate of 65mbps whatever the AP setting. (20mhz or 40mhz HT/20 HT/40).....oops.

* Further testing reveals the Vista drivers 8.0.0.87 also doesn't suffer these restrictions of the native Windows 7 drivers(also gives 150mbps instead of 65mbps), so since the 9.2.0.19 is a crap worse performing driver in and of itself, I would recommend you use the Vista drivers on Windows 7 and stay away from the Windows 7 native drivers altogether for Windows 7 unless you prefer frequent unexplained disconnections, and getting less speed than you paid for whether your using 036NHA or TP-Link WN722N.

I can't comment on how the 10.x.x.x behave in that regard, as I refuse to upgrade to Windows 10, free or paid.

The best AR9271 driver for win 8.1 x64 is 10.0.0.49. It comes from windows update so I guess it's the most recent one, for Windows 7.
It's almost rock solid. There are no BSODs and it very rarely powers off by itself.
We can keep an access point running for several hours without issues (I saw it stopping ocasionally but I guess it's caused by too many connected clients)

I clarify that golpebaixo's solution is working for me. However the driver will not install because it is 32-bit one. For Windows 8.1 x64 you can use version 2.0.0.49 (originally for Windows 7 64-bit) that can be downloaded here:

http://www.atherosdrivers.com/atheros-wireless-drivers-AR9271-windows7-64bit.html

However it occasionally disconnects without reason, but at least no BSOD BAD_POOL_HEADER

These appear to be the drivers from CommView for Wifi. They might have a good reason for using those weird release dates.

It's great that they work fine on Windows 7 because they are the worst garbage on Windows 8.1. Not only they're unstable but we also get a guaranteed BSOD by just unplugging the adapter.

I've been trying various drivers for my MSI motherboard WiFi module (AR9271 based) and the best one for Windows 10 is 2.0.64. Highest data rates with no crc errors and the advanced status panel of AWicDiag shows everything properly.

I could not make this driver to change the MAC address, although the entry exists in the registry. Strange.

I am on Windows 7 / 32bit.

EDIT1: I tested also other versions of the 2.0.0.x driver now. If you enter anything different than "02" in the first two numbers of MAC, the custom MAC is ignored and devide MAC is used instead.
The WinXP compatible driver 7.7.0.105 was more tolerant, it accepted any MAC entered and it worked. Unfortunately, it freezed quite often in my case (Win7/32). Currently testing 2.0.0.49.

EDIT2: After a day, the 2.0.0.49 crashed. Returning to 2.0.0.70 (commview), Will post results...

EDIT3: After another day, the 2.0.0.70 crashed too, and the AR9271 (TL-722N) had to be restarted. I wonder if there is a diver that does not crash, or if the crashes are hardware related.
Now testing v.2.0.0.64...

EDIT4: After almost 2 days of additinal testing, the 2.0.0.64 driver still runs, no card freezing. Good.
The only downside is that the 2.x driver series are not capable of 150 Mbit conection, as someone already posted here.

EDIT5: It seems that there was also a HW problem - the TL-722NC has a loose USB socket, which makes the adapter stop functioning, if you touch it a bit. The device is still working properly in Device Manager, but in fact, it isn't, the LED does not blink. Restarting the driver restores the functionality.
I switched to a normal USB cable and will see if it helps. I am returning to the former 7.7.0.105 now.

Final EDIT: After almost 2 months, everything is stable. My problem really was the loose USB socket of the original TP Link adapter.

You should be using v2.0.0.64, it seems to be the most stable. However something weird happened today after a power outage... I'm getting an error when I try to install that particular version of the driver, Windows says it "is not intended for this platform". All the other versions work fine.

I thought it could have come from Windows Update but the last update was installed november 15. I guess something got corrupted somewhere?

"According to FCC test results, this adapter is ~5 times weaker(sure it's "weaker" just as "L" stands for "Low cost" details: https://github.com/qca/open-ath9k-htc-firmware/issues/82#issuecomment-252649735)

than typical Wi-Fi adapters such as TP-LINK TL-WN722N. Although it's flagged high-power manufacturer never released driver to support high-power operation. "
