Realtek 11n Version 1027.4 (036AC/036NHV/036NHR) Complete with GUI 700.1685.1211.2014 Reworked with gui, signed, and also 100% trojan/crapware free (unlike the other versions of 1027.4 doing the rounds on the net elsewhere). Sorry no release notes as yet. https://www.mediafire.com/?0j0auzwc46wl1ut Latest there is and using myself on NHR v2 atm, enjoy...
Thanks for the upload, these are the first drivers in a long, long time that work fine on 5Ghz with my RTL8812AU adapter. There frequently were several seconds of no data throughput on 5Ghz with the previous drivers, insanely frustrating and just rare enough to make troubleshooting borderline impossible. I haven't seen this behavior at all with these new drivers, 5ghz is finally stable. However, where USB 3.0 worked reliably with 1027.3, with these the adapter never runs in USB 3.0 mode: http://i.imgur.com/zHvJLVw.png The jarring and annoying switch when connecting to 5Ghz networks is gone but it's also capped at below 30Mb/s transfer rates. Tried it on ASMedia and Etron USB 3.0 ports. Does USB 3.0 work for anyone with these?
No. I made exactly the same observation. Also the Realtek WLAN Utility shows that only USB 2.0 is enabled. With the previous drivers, I did not have this problem.
Well....hmmm better stick to 1027.3 if you have an AC model. There is potentially a 1029.xx version floating around but I just can't find a reliable source yet. Nor do I have an 036AC to test fully, not only that but don't have USB 3.0 ports either. We'll see what happens once I can catch 1029.xx
Well, station-drivers.com has 1029.0.0217.2015 as driver only. It's not properly signed (at least for Windows 8.1 x64) so, yeah, that's not great. It's more a driver for the desperate than something I'd recommend using at this point.
I wouldn't recommend getting your Realtek drivers from there, every time I have download one... I have to run it in a sandbox to extract the contents as my AV always flags malware in the 7 zips from stuff downloaded from SD. Even the Realtek HD audio drivers were the same. (Using the free Qihoo 360 Total security essentials because it stops almost anything getting thru with both Avira and Bitdefender engines) Avast has gone down hill, since they got rid of the sandboxing, it's now a paid bolt on. I don't ever upload malware infested crap in any drivers either...can't stand it. I do have a contruction of 1029.0 here but it's Win7/8/8.1 only. The XP and vista ones are still at 1027.4. I think it's better to wait things out a while than to try 1029.0 out of desperation yes. Because even on 1029.0 the bug with the NHV (showing less signal strengths after driver 1027.2) is still apparent. And I believe they changed the way RSSI reports by upshifting the scale so AP's now show -94 RSSI on a -96 sensitivity adapter (NHV). Realtek wifi drivers always seem to be bug ridden it seems.
Really? I never had any problems with station-drivers.com - it's a reliable source for the very latest drivers and I'm certain they do not intentionally distribute any kind of malware. Maybe their screening process is not as thorough as it could be, mostly due to their bleeding edge nature, but I never had an issue. A much more likely explanation would, that those are simply false positives - especially Avira's engine is rather notorious for those and the reason why I would not recommend it. Did you do a VirusTotal screening, what was the result? The drivers I linked above are definitely 100% clean, just not signed for Windows 8.1 (my educated guess is, that they are probably Windows 10 WU drivers and only signed for Windows 10). Would you mind giving me a link to such a potentially unsafe download from SD? I'd be surprised to see such an accusation substantiated.
It's then perhaps a little strange that almost 99% of the packets/archive files I downloaded from there happens to be a "False positive". Qihoo 360 TSE has 5 AV engines including cloud, nothing much of crapware makes it past it. It takes a no nonsense approach to kicking malware into the abyss. If your AV is only 95% accurate, that means that 5% of malware is getting thru undetected. I remember years ago when they were giving out nice keygens for ESET Nod32, which took you to a website to get the keygen which had a virus ESET Nod32 couldn't detect, so you got the keygen and a nice virus that was invulnerable to Nod32 as well while you were there. Maybe they are false positive, but nearly all of them ? It's just a warning about what I found in my case. I'm not telling anyone to explicitly not to download anything. Taking over computers and stealing your data is a big business, which is why almost 1 in 3 things you ever download online have unwanted junk inside which won't be found unless you run it past multiple AV's. But for me I'm not willing to take that risk (without sandboxing them at least anyway). And in any case, I've downloaded the exact same archive from chinese/russian websites that do not trigger a "false positive".
If 99% of all downloads from an established and reasonably reputable site like station-drivers.com trigger your AV solution, chances are, that there is something wrong with your AV solution not all of those downloads. It's simply much more likely that your AV's heuristics are tripped by a perfectly harmless characteristic of those archives. In fact, in the few reviews of Qihoo 360 TSE that I could find, the huge amount of false positives was a frequent complaint. I just uploaded the driver I linked above to VirusTotal (something I would strongly recommend doing any time there is any doubt about potential malware) and this is the result. Only the two infamous Chinese rivals discover malware that does not exist, and both agree on it for well known reasons. It's an obvious false positive and I honestly have no idea what on earth is triggering it (some version or setting of 7zip's SFX tool, I assume) and why it hasn't been corrected by either one (well, corrected by one and copied by the other). Frankly, given their history and background, I wouldn't really trust either company with my personal security, but that's your choice to make. All I'm asking you is to not spread any FUD, even if unintentionally, if it's simply not backed by any facts. There is no risk to take with the download I linked because it's verifiably clean. You don't even have to execute those self extracting archives, just extract them directly via 7zip's context menu, no need for sandboxing of any kind.
Firstly just because something is Chinese, doesn't make it inferior. Qihoo had 496 million users for its Internet Security products and 641 million users for its Mobile Antivirus products at last count in June 2014. Kasens 8187L is Chinese, but it works in most cases just about as well as an ALFA 036H costing more. Secondly, it's a layered defence with very high detection rates including both big hitters of Bitdefender and Avira as standard including 5 engines in total, but the only way to be sure things are not a virus is with a default deny architecture. i.e. You let everything in that you know is good, and you by default block everything else, as opposed to letting everything past that doesn't identify in your AV as bad. I primarily use it because all the others that are free are either ad-ridden nagging you to buy the full thing, have features torn away after several versions like sandboxing, have inferior detection rates, or just bog down your system. Now while I might agree it may well poke out the odd false positive from time to time because their own QVM II heuristics engine needs some work, but nothing much else of any seriousness that will compromise your system will likely get past it due to the multiple engines, cloud scanning, and layered defence. I don't have to use Malwarebytes Antimalware on demand scans as a backup to catch what my other AV's missed, and I don't have to believe the system is clean, when infact other AV products I went through over the years were just letting them in, and just not detecting them. I have 100% no problems trusting my system security with it, because if anything nefarious was happening behind the scenes by the company that issues it, they would have been found out by now considering the large installed userbase. So any doubt about it's authenticity, untrustworthyness, or fitness for purpose just because it's chinese can also be represented as "FUD" by the same token. Trusting what one engine opinions is never enough, you definately need a layered defence in 2015 and this is the best solution I've found. I used to use Nod32, Avira and Avast in the past, but they just got worse and more bloated with every version.
No, just because something is Chinese doesn't make it worse. There are many excellent Chinese products. But, no matter how trustworthy, reliable and competent Qihoo as a company might be, under the current climate in China, under the current government it is simply impossible to operate a trustworthy security company from out of that country. You're receiving your updates from behind the great firewall of China from a company that has absolutely no choice but to obey any command from a controlling government at any given moment. Even if the product isn't compromised at the moment, that is simply no basis for reliable security. Sure, you can make the same point (to a much lesser degree) for US based companies as well, but there are plenty that are based in reasonably free countries. Multi-Engine AV solutions aren't anything new and far from exclusive to Qihoo's product. They are, due to their nature, relatively high impact while adding relatively little security. And false positives become a much more serious problem. But, again, that's your choice to make and you may see this differently. However, if you blindly trust your AV solution and claim that downloads from a reputable website pose a security risk then your choice becomes our problem. In the future, I'd strongly recommend verifying any such claim with https://www.virustotal.com first. Back to the topic at hand, 1029.0.0217.2015 from station-drivers.com is indeed simply just a driver that's distributed via Windows 10 WU and has been modified to run under older versions of Windows - losing its signature in the process.

They work and are tested on my 036NHV before uploading yes. infact i'm using myself right now to reply here. Although I think support was dropped for some other adapters starting 1027.5. As for the best drivers, well you have do do your own evaluations which is best since......I don't provide them because they are inherantly better (although they should be because of more features/bugfixes) I provide them because they are the newest available for your ALFA adapters, than those what ALFA themselves provide. There will also be other fixes not specifically mentoned in the release notes. Your not forced to use them and can use the disc that came with the adapter, it's just personal preference whether you want to stay up to date or for those who like to tinker/experiment with updated drivers.
Thanks kevsamiga! v1027.6.0417.2015 are great drivers for 8812AU. 5Ghz is working fast and stable and USB 3.0 mode is finally working again with these. However, it doesn't reliably switch back to USB 3.0 mode after standby and beamforming is disabled by default. So far I'm happy enough with these, looks like driver quality is finally on the right track. Where did you find them, if I may ask?
