    Hi,

I tried Xiaopan 0.4.4 and also used an older version before and each time I run Minidwep-gtk I see the device name as RT2800 in the left corner, I have RT3070 (TL-WN7200ND), does that mean that Xiaopan sees my device as RT2800 ?

I am asking that because I have the impression that my device performs better under windows, more sensitive, anybody have noticed such thing?

    Thanks

The chip is RT3070 and Xiaopan 0.4.4 page says that it supports RT3070 (USB), what I am missing here ?

    1. It is supported
    2. It can crack WEP in 1 minute
    3. There is no 3070 driver
    5. It uses the rt2800 driver to function
    6. It is the best driver to use if you want to hack wifi
    7. Official drivers from Ralink do not support monitor mode and injection
    8. These are designed for scanning and connecting to networks, not hacking
    9. Latest official drivers: RT8070 /RT3070 /RT3370 /RT5370 /RT5372 USB 03/28/2012 2.5.0.3

    Thanks for the info

Sorry there is something vague here (for me)

You are saying that RT3070 driver was created in early 2012 but if my device used it, it won't work properly? yet other devices with the same chip are able to use driver RT3070 and function properly and that is why Xiaopan 0.4.4 supports driver RT3070 and Xiaopan is designed to load RT2800 when it sees my device ?

Trying to be as clear as I can.

The official drivers will (do their job) allow you to scan and connect to networks.

The compat-wireless ones are for hacking.

You cannot hack wifi with official drivers.

RT2800 is the best driver in Xiaopan / Backtrack etc to hack wifi for the RT3070.

It does not do a good job compared to scanning and connecting to networks as the official ones are.

I am sorry I was confused about the compatibility list, it is clear now.

Just my last question to be 100% :)...other devices that has the same chip (RT3070) will also need RT2800 in Linux ?
