    Hey Guys,

I just got myself a ALFA AWUS036NHR not longs ago.
But I am suffering of OS unresponsiveness.
I tried on XIAOPAN 0.4.5/0.4.1 and beini 1.2.3 (both in vm and cd boot)
While I am half way breaking the wep ( mostly capture until 1000 IV packet capture)
    The OS will freeze!
This is OS issue or my wifi adapter AWUS036NHR is faulty?
any help is very much appreciate!:joy

Can it connect to networks in your host machine? do they remain stable and connected?
Are you using a USB port 2.0 or 3.0? if you are using 1.0 that might cause issues.
Are you using an extra long USB or coaxial cable?
    Indoors or outdoors?
    Any possible 2.4Ghz interference?
Is the device sitting firmly in place?
    Directional or omni directional?
Try using Minidwep (if you are not) and slow down the injection rate.

Thank you For you swift action

I think it is fine for my host machine. I tried on 2 laptop (win7 / mac)
    USB 2.0
In-the-box USB cable (It is normal range)
Put in indoors trying to signal from other house.
Quite many AP (Around 10 AP in same channel, around 30 AP around)
    Yes
    Omni directional
I tried before slow down the injection rate. It will getting longer sniffing only will hangs. But the OS will still freeze before successfully crack.

I tried with almost all the network in my coverage.
Btw, What is the typical time for breaking the WEP password if using the forge attack method with 1000pps.
I am getting around 1 IV per second when I am using the method.
    Does it normal?

Not sure superdish. The signal could be too weak or it is on a static network.

Try -3 attack instead of -4 or -5 and deauthenticate one of the clients (if any).

    The signal is consider strong,
    I get around ~-100 PWR.
I tried using P08461 also, it will hangs up before I mange to crack the password.

But anyway, really appreciate your helps Mr. Penguin:joy

    That is bad.

E.g: -60 is better signal strength than -100.

Surprised you got even 1 IV. Put the thing outdoors, use bib to get a better signal.

In the feeding bottle application, the PWR column:
    -10 is better than -100?
But It wont cause OS freeze right?

YES, that - means a negative. The higher number there is -10

Not sure, don't attempt anything less than -75. Ideally, -50. With -100 you will crack nothing.
