HI, i'm new here and very new to this stuff so please be gentle
i bought a signal king 999wn but performance decrease after a few days so i googled and it seems like the default antennas are both 6dbi each (not sure if is true) so i bought this 17dbi antenna

i thought that this antenna was the perfect upgrade but it has the same performance as my two default antennas...
the wifi adapter is 48dbi so it should work, am i doing something wrong? maybe as something to do with software problem? if so how can i find and solve them?
also the wifi adapter sometimes resets by itself

    edit:. i got de-virginised o.o

The amplifier is pretty poor in the signalking and and cheap antenna's and wifi cards are usually over estimated in dbi, also poor quality cable will reduce dbi.
Also i think the signalking 2 antennas are for MIMO one for the rx other for tx so are you changing both antennas.

i only changed 1 antenna, does both need to have same dbi? i also have an usb hub before the wifi card that also reduces quality?
    thanks in advanced!

    Correction...

The 999WN is NOT mimo !, it only has a Ralink 3070 chip not 3072 needed for such adventures.

One antenna on 999WN acts as transmit, the other will receive. And they are both 6dbi (probably)

It's a con to make you think your getting something your not.

Sure, changing one antenna on it will affect receive or transmit dbi side accordingly depending which one you change.

It isn't combined though. The antenna's don't do diversity.

And the device is very weak to begin with. 950WN is better than 999WN, and that's stretching it.

I've already tried the thing with twin 16dbi yagi's and it's still piss poor. You need to dump the thing and get something else.

    *NOTE

I own this adapter in the sig below...and it's still CRAP.

i tried to use the 17dbi antenna on the other side and it was crazy, i could get much better signal but i could not connect, the signal quality was like the first time i used the 999wn
i had also bought an 9dbi antenna and i should get it in a few days will 17dbi receive and 9dbi transmit work?

if you put usb cable input of a card in front of you, right side anteana is recive signal, left side antenna is trensmite if toy use it as ap.
i dont agree,sk999 is bad card. i tested it with original alfa awus036h. put them on same place, one by one tested. sk999 got a little more ap,and i look signal strenght on strongest ap. they have similar results in db,signal king sometimes have little better reception . also i do test with sk360000 with alfa. same spot in room, same antenna. they have pretty same results in strongest ap in db. i did not tested it with speed of penetrating and get handshakes. first picture is alfa, secound is sk
