    *8187B Model: IDU-2850UG-300WG
    *8187L Model: AWUS036H

    TEST checklist:
-Both adapters were placed at the same location using the same type of antennas. (2 for 8187B)
-Scan was repeated 7X on multiple intervals. using feeding bottle and inflator.
-Both adapter drivers are preloaded on Xiaopan OS 0.4.3 (no driver replacement required)
-All scans were performed on WPA/WPA2 encryption.

Note that 8187L displays APs with high RSSI but 8187B does not.
(APs with high RSSI are usually non injectable)

The winner is 8187B by a 15 to 20% margin.

Wow micr0be some really interesting comparisons there and it is awesome that we don't have to load the B driver. Many people have had issues loading RTL8187B in Beini as well as Xiaopan :)

I never thought the B version was any good. Clearly I was wrong. I wonder what the speed differences to crack WEP with each card, I want a IDU-2850-UG-300WG now. I found one on Deal Extreme, but it states the card is a 8187LVD, what the hell is that :D

yea that's the name of my 8187B adapter "Wifly-City" but i don't know about the LVD part o_O

you think it uses the same chipset and drivers ?
if you want i can test WEP crack speed on them, i'll update results when i'm done.

Really not sure, might do some research. I would like that and I think many others would find it beneficial on which card to ultimately get. Thanks a lot :)

    1 Minute Scan Test Comparison
    8187B / 8187L
    IDU-2850UG-300WG / AWUS036H
    -51 / -56 XX:XX:XX:XX:13:5D Result: 8.93% better signal
    -54 / N/A XX:XX:XX:XX:0D:10 Result: Unable to compare
    -59 / -66 XX:XX:XX:XX:47:AC Result: 10.60% better signal
    -60 / -69 XX:XX:XX:XX:1F:XC Result: 13.04% better signal
    -60 / -67 XX:XX:XX:XX:55:41 Result: 10.48% better signal
    -61 / N/A XX:XX:XX:XX:CB:98 Result: Unable to compare
    -62 / -66 XX:XX:XX:XX:EA:73 Result: 6.06% better signal
Average benefit in connectivity and signal strength = 9.822%
Sensitivity benefit in detecting networks = 30% more*
*But you are unlikely to be able to crack or connect at those at high RSSI strength networks. As micr0be stated, these are unlikely to be injectable.

yea you can pair it with whatever antennas you want, just be careful of the weight of the antenna on the node, try using extenders.
(mine just got loose :( i've been using it for a long time though, but i can resolder it because nothing was damaged.)

it basically means don't directly attach heavy antennas to these devices :D buy extenders (many come with extenders anyway)

No he means that the weight of the antennas can break the socket. If you get an antenna like the one he mentioned above you are not putting any weight on the socket / connector.

I went for shopping (in China) last week-end and saw the card Micr0be tested. (IDU-2850UG-300WG dual antenna)
(For what it is worth: according to the shop owner, this version of the card is made in China not Taiwan.)

I tried the card in the shop, on a friend's laptop running BT5-R1.

I was able to use airodump-ng and wash to scan several AP.
However, reaver (1.4) was not working at all:
    • Impossible to authenticate on the AP most of the time.
    • Several disconnection to the AP
    • Impossible to get a good reply from the AP for a single PIN.
From memory, airmon-ng diplayed something like:
    wlan0/mon0 8187BlvB (earlier version)

I'd like to install Xiaopan 4.3 and give another try.

Is there anything special I have to do to pre-load the adapter drivers in version 4.3?
micr0be, have you successfully been able to use the card and perform WEP/WPA attack?
