Dropbox is probably the best file sharing resource but you do not get much cloud space if you just signup. However, there are a few things you can do to increase storage. Currently, I have the maximum 19.9GB possible with a free account. If anyone wants more, the biggest gain is through referrals. You also get more space if you signup or associate a .edu email address. For every friend who joins and installs Dropbox, both will get 500 MB of bonus space (up to a limit of 16 GB)! FYI: Dropbox just made all my referrals invalid, even the legit ones I used on my other PC's and some friends PC's. I went from 20GB space to 3.4GB now. WTF
I had that when I first started getting referrals. But I built it back up again. But I spammed people to join which their referral system shouldn't allow.
My cheat around was to create a vm in virtualbox and then use my gmail to cheat it like so - Gmail only allows you use one dot in the registration. IE - [email protected] -BUT- Since you can ADD dots in the email field you're signing up for something, it will still go to the right email address IE - [email protected] So basically you can put as many . in your email as you want and it will still come to you - you can also do this with the + but be careful - why you ask? many unsubscribe forms dont allow for + in the form - thus you will get spam bombed - best to use the . trick..... Once you set up your vm you can sign in and out or install/uninstall depending on if you have the app cameyod/thinapp'd - as fast as you can send emails - which for some folks can be blazing fast - have fun - oh yea... you can do this with places like box.net dropbox, ....well pretty much anywhere.... I have even used it to extend my vmware lic/trials as much as 6 month down the road when our funding got cut. Yeah I know lame right... I had to make sure that I could call support somehow if something blew up.... cheezy way to do it - luckily nothing major happened but hey ....thats what we do...solve problems ...even if its janky...
