Just received my new ALFA AWUS036AC WiFi Adapter and went straight to ALFA Network Web Site alfa.com.tw to download the driver file for Windows.

To my surprise I got a warning message this time upon completion of the download..
"RTLWlanU_1024.9.1219.2013_ISS_1.00.0239.L.zip is malicious, and Chrome has blocked it."

If I try to recover this so call malware. I am further being warned.
"This file will harm your computer. Even if you have downloaded files from this website before, the website might have been hacked. Instead of recovering this file, you can retry the download later."

Am using Win 8.1. My laptop don't have a CD Drive so I haven't tried out the CD that come with the adapter.

Would like to hear more of this file problem?

    Thank U.
Downloaded the file for Window and started driver installation.
But didn't get far with the following message..
"Sorry! We do not support this operating system."
I am totally lost. It's supposed to work with Win 8.1

Out of desperation I just connected the AWUS036AC to my laptop.
It seem to be working with the AWUSo36NHV driver I installed previously for my
    othe new NHV adapter.

It's read as Realtek 8812AU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC

Just can't understand why the downloaded driver for AWUS036AC can not be installed.
    ?????

Other than tweak the .inf and disable driver enforcement,or extract inf and try install manually, I wouldn't know.
Maybe someone with better windows 8 experience would know, windows is not my os of choice.

Very happy with my 036AC so far.
I want to try using both the following EXTERNAL antennas connecting to this adapter.
I am not a technical man but would like to have some advice on this try.
Would there be any damages to my wifi adapter and other parts of system?

    Alfa Network AOA-2415 omni-directional outdoor 15 dBi WiFi antenna - 2.4 GHz
Alfa Network AGA-2424, Wifi 24 dBI Superior Performance Grid Antenna

Get twin 18dbi yagi's on it stacked apart in an array. :)

That's the first thing I would try if I had an 036AC...

But since 036AC is dual band, you need dual band antenna's.

Putting 5 Ghz TX into 2.4Ghz only antennas is a bad no-no for your radios.
