I think you must wait for the official windows 8 release since it still in Beta fase, and Alfa (or any device builder) can't develop drivers for OS's on Beta testing

I noticed this is a major issue with device manufacturers (cough Ralink, cough Realtek), they are always behind, developing 64bit and latest OS drivers. Highly annoying indeed.

alternative from Alfa would be G-Sky they both use the same chip sets
i have been looking at this Sabrent NT-H802N high power usb adapter @ Wally world cost is very good
but even going to Sabrent web site they only give info of what it can do
nothing about if it can do packet injections or chip set they use i thought that was odd ?

If you're looking for alternatives to the ALFA AWUS036H that support both Windows 8 and macOS X higher, here are a few options you can consider:

TP-Link Archer T2U Plus: This is a popular USB Wi-Fi adapter that supports Windows 8 and macOS X. It utilizes the latest Wi-Fi standard (802.11ac) and offers faster speeds than the AWUS036H. It also has a high-gain external antenna for improved signal reception.

NETGEAR A6210: The A6210 is another USB Wi-Fi adapter compatible with Windows 8 and macOS X. It supports the 802.11ac standard and offers fast connection speeds. It features a high-gain antenna and supports beamforming technology for better range and performance.

ASUS USB-AC68: This USB Wi-Fi adapter is known for its high performance and compatibility with Windows and macOS. It supports the 802.11ac standard and has a powerful external antenna design for extended range and stability.

Regarding making the ALFA AWUS036H supported on Windows 8 and macOS X, unfortunately, if the manufacturer does not provide drivers or support for those operating systems, it may be difficult to achieve full compatibility. While there might be workarounds or unofficial drivers available online, they can be unreliable and may not provide the best performance. It's generally recommended to choose a Wi-Fi adapter that is officially supported for your operating system to ensure the best experience.
