I want to bought alfa wireless adapter and i don't know What is the best wireless adapter? awus036nhv or awus036nhr v2 or awus036nha? I want use this wireless adapter with alfa r36 I want wireless adapter long rang and high link quality Please help me why I chose from this wireless adapters
Then you have a dilemma... 036NHV (8188EUS) & 036NHR (8188RU) are not hacking adapters in my experience (unless you count 1 or 2 release of beini for the NHR) and then it has it's problems with using that. 036NHA supports all 6 wireless modes of linux and can hack and injects as well as a heroin addict in a poppy field but then it doesn't have the range of the others and the radio chip is firmware locked to 20dbm. The R36 has only recently aquired 036NHV compatibility with a firmware update. Something to consider. I wouldn't consider the NHR at all, as the reliability of the device in my experience is piss poor and the NHV is just as sensitive and powerful and should be more reliable as it's a full board pcb. Both my NHR's are ready for an early grave infact one is already dead kept in it's box from new and had less than 1 hrs use and still died, the other is going deaf. My personal preference (it might not be yours) is for the 051NH as I'm just beginning to dabble in 5Ghz. Jack of all trades with all bases covered + mimo and it can hack. I don't pay attention to grandiose claims of power or sensitivity anymore, reliability is more important to me, and they all fail the same when the rain comes tumbling down. If you can't get anything with one, your unlikely to get anything with another just the same. There is no ultimate adapter unless you improve both ends of the link first because wifi is a 2 way street. They're much better than a tiny strip antenna buried behind a laptops screen, but you aren't going to get "miles" of long range in NLOS urban AP density conditions.
@kevsamiga: Since 036H becomes redundant with newer OSes and does not have N mode and NHV does not seem to have the hacking drivers needed, although it is a very fast and stable chip, would you suggest NHA as a 036H for future injection or 051 would be better?
I've managed to grab handshakes at distance with both, the 051NH has more functionality including dual band and mimo, the drivers are still being updated. And you can hack the TX power by registy (like the 036NH). It's a stable and a reliable adapter. It's only weakness is in connecting to G mode AP's where the NHA beats it for sensitivity (although it was improved slightly from the 050NH), but for mimo 11N or 5Ghz operation it's a good range and throughput even with low bars. I can't comment on the new 051NH v2 version with 2T2R RT3572, it may be better than the v1 or a cost reducing excercise by ALFA I don't know, but it does come with a true dual band external antenna. The NHA has more host offloading capabilities in hardware instead of software (good for old computers with crappy cpu), but the drivers are no longer updated and the radio chip is hard locked to 20dbm and no tools exist to edit it. It's good in low signal conditions, but it doesn't have the reach for transmit even with attaching larger antennas. But if you can connect within range you'll get the highest speed potential of all the ALFA's simply because the hardware has more wifi functions in hardware instead of driver software based. However with the drivers there are, it has a tendancy to lockup and shutdown at random and give laggy connections with high pings sometimes. There was a german website I can no longer seem to find that found out doing lamp tests attached to the output the 050NH/51NH had the most output power of all the ALFA's. The mw specified by ALFA are almost always usually meaningless to get you to buy them like chickens. 051NH is only supposed to be 500mw compared to the NHA's output, but 051NH performs at better ranges. It doesn't surprise me as internally there are 4 LNA amplifiers inside. So I would say the 051NH as you have everything covered even 802.11a which no one uses anymore, however if your not hacking then something like an 036NHV, 036AC (if you have USB 3 ports). I don't recommend the NHR at all anymore because of the early death from new of both. 1 not even used. The board of the NHR v2 is cheap and tiny compared to the 036NHA/051NH/036NHV's which are all a full PCB design. Your 036NHR v2 may last from anything from a day to 6 months, but this particular model is not wholly reliable compared to the others I have. 036NH is random what size board you get, wheras we all know the venerable 036H is a full board, but that's not good for 11N, media streaming, or interference conditions. The chip is old and slow and it's really an 11b adapter dressed up and made to work in G mode where the output is unstable at high powers.
Interesting findings thank you. I admit that I love 036H but now it is almost redundant for me 036NHV is super for connectivity. I have tested a 036NH and it got better signal than my 036H of course my 036H is 3year old. I would like a chip that would combine the hacking abilities of 036H, the stability of 036NHV and hardware capabilities of 036NHA. Unfortunately it does not exist. For me then it will be a combination of 036NHV and 051NH!
