I found references to the RTL8187L with the event log. As I have a NHR it seems I could not scan or connect with networks with the new beta. Give it a go and see if there is any improvement. Note that it is a beta and it might be unstable. You can always downgrade if required.

I wouldn't know about any NHR compatibility, I only have the ALFA's to play with not the R36. Just posting links to updated firmware for it in my travels around is all.
@Mr. Penguin isn't Alfa R36 exactly look like Reaver Pro II or i am on weed If my curiosity is lawful then Alfa R36 can use Reaver Pro II's firmware or i am truly on weed?
