    Esentially what is happening is,

When I plug in my USB n-13 - the driver runs in windows, and the key turns on.

    then three things could happen:

    1. I can unplug the USB and boot Xiaopan, but it will not start - giving me this error message:
Could not start the machine UBUNTU because the following physical network interfaces were not found: ASUS USB N-13.....

    OR

    2. I run Xiaopan without removing the USB, and I get the error message:

Failed to attach the USB device Realtek 802.11n WLAN Adapter [0200] to the virtual machine ubuntu.
USB device 'Realtek 802.11n WLAN Adapter' with UUID {29d700ef-59ac-478b-aa61-faa0cb76b952} is busy with a previous request. Please try again later.

    OR

    3. With a bit of luck, I unplug the USB before starting Xiaopan, and then try and shove the USB in as fast as possible to avoid the first error message and also stop windows from using it first.
When I do this, the device connects properly (it is "checked" in virtualbox) and windows does not use the USB.

However, the USB remains powered off and I continue to get error messages such as "No wireless card found" etc. In fact, the USB powers off at the exact same time I boot Xiaopan and/or connect the device to virtualbox...
Could it be that I have to install a driver in virtualbox? If so, Could somebody help me understand the process to go about doing so? (I'm new to this...)

    My host is Windows 8.

Thank you in advance, it's greatly appreciated.

Ok, first of all you should always plug in your card after Xiaopan OS boots.

Now, I believe Windows is still using your USB WLAN. Therefore you can try to disable the driver in device manager or delete the driver in Windows. Let us know how it goes.

If I uninstall or disable the driver, the USB doesn't even power on in the first place.

    I got this error:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine ubuntu.
Nonexistent host networking interface, name 'ASUS USB-N13 300Mbps 11n Wireless USB dongle' (VERR_INTERNAL_ERROR).

This is a VB issue I believe. Any possibility you can use this in VMWare?

Try in VB first change the network settings. Change attached to: NAT.

Changed the attachment to NAT and I don't notice any difference.. :/

The only way I can get the USB to actually turn on is by running the driver for it in windows...

Irritatingly, I WAS able to connect one time in virtualbox with the ASUS USB, bridged adapter setting...
Then I regrettably had to reboot my PC before reaver finished. I've been trying with the same settings and now and the USB just doesn't want to stay powered on X.x

I'm hesitant to install any more programs if I'm unsure that they will work, because I've got an internet package with (very) limited data -.-
I have 3 gigs of internet left that need to last me 3 weeks T.T

Do you have any other suggestions or ideas as to what the issue could? Thanks a lot.

Are you using the latest version of VirtualBox? (4.3)
    Ensure VB is installed in
    Code:
    Select All
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\
    1 Open VB
    2 Right-click the virtual machine
    3 Discard saved state
    4 Restart

I suspect it has something to do with your snapshot. See #11183 (Nonexistent host networking interface)

    I wasn't using 4.3, so I updated.

    But still, Same problems..

I can confirm the file location is the same as you stated.

I think it's clear that the #11183 (Nonexistent host networking interface) error is a result of the USB being unplugged. (Seeing as the network settings use it?)

The option "Discard saved state" is not even available to me. (grey / not click-able)

Here's a file that shows my setting in Virtual Box, if it helps.

Since today... I've started to get this error upon start up.

Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_GENERAL_FAILURE).

Could this be a familiar problem?
