Does 802.11n matter when capturing handshakes or deauthing?

If I have an RTL8187 that supports 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g and I understand that I won't be able to see any clients that are connecting over 5 GHz.

However, nowadays most devices are using 802.11n or ac. Does this mean I won't be able capture any handshakes or be able to deauth any users that are using 802.11n or 802.11ac? Or do 2.4 GHz handshakes always take place at a speed that my card will see?

In your experience, does using an 802.11b/g card make things significantly harder since most people are using 802.11n/ac now?

    Thanks

It will work just fine for B G and N networks for 5 GHZ/AC you will need to buy another adapter for example the awus036ach or the awus1900
