Hello, I am using Xiaopan live CD and leaving the laptop powered on for a week. I would like to know how do I shutdown the screen in order to save energy? I've been to the control panel, wallpaper but I see no power saving options, nor an option to allow me to have a black screensaver. The ideal would be to have the display off after 5 minutes, but I don't mind having to do it manually. Thanks
Xiaopan use's Code: Select All xset i.e Code: Select All xset +dpms # enable DPMS xset dpms 0 0 300 # 5 minute timeout XSET(1) manual page
Thank you very much. I will use those. --- Double Post Merged, 16 Feb 2014 --- I'm sorry to report that this command did not work. When I use xset +dpms I get "Server does not have extension for +dpms option". The second command must have some invalid syntax because it shows the man page. It would be really nice if a screensaver or display standby option was added to Xiaopan. Last sunday I left the laptop running reaver at a place. When I went to pick it up today, it had the LCD screen burn in or persistence. So now I always see Xiaopan as an image overlay and reaver password: YouTube VideoWatch this video on YouTube.
Have a look at the xset commands Something like Code: Select All xset s blank xset s 300 To fix your screen burn try jscreenfix or theres plenty of other free video fixes for screen burn.
