I can't recall which version of Xiaopan gives me this problem with RTL8187 when running via vmware. If "rfkill" shows anything as yes, unblock it and try to scan again
I have an ALFA RTL8187L. Feedingbottle / Inflator does not find APs for me because it is trying to put monitor mode in Wlan0. Minidwep and Bully working for me. There is a fix for that somewhere.
No problems here using live usb and virtual box on mac with feeding bottle and inflator the fix for inflator -C take a look at the logs in the temp folder for errors and dmesg
