There is a LiveCD for Ophcrack that can be downloaded where no software installation is necessary to recover password. No previous knowledge of the passwords on the system to be known to use the Ophcrack LiveCD. The LiveCD allows for completely automatic password recovery. Ophcrack works with Windows 7, Vista, and XP. Rainbow attacks are done with huge text files that can range from the size of hundreds of MB to hundreds of GB. Some tables are designed specifically for particular operating system hashes. All of the tables in in a Rainbows attack are pre-computed hashes.
