Hello all, this is my first post. Xiaopan is the very best distro for testing and diagnostic my wireless network. I have a problem with usb dongle, Xiaopan does not recognise my Philips PTA128/00. I tried several versions of Xiaopan, but without success. WI1 chip1: Ralink RT5372L ID: 0471:2180 Windows: USB\VID_0471&PID_2180 Please help me.
post any dmesg in xiaopan probably missing firmware the RT5372 should use rt2800usb but never come across RT5372L
My laptop is IBM T41 TYPE 2373-2FG When I insert the usb dongle, dmesg in xiaopan show me only: usb 1-4: new high speed USB device number 4 using ehci_hcd On a desktop computer (OpenSUSE 12.2) when plug usb dongle, dmesg show me: [784880.249034] usb 1-2: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci_hcd [784880.380124] usb 1-2: New USB device found, idVendor=0471, idProduct=2180 [784880.380131] usb 1-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [784880.380136] usb 1-2: Product: PTA-128 [784880.380140] usb 1-2: Manufacturer: PHILIPS TV [784880.380144] usb 1-2: SerialNumber: 1
The same problem but with Philips PTA01/00, Xiaopan does not recognise this stick. This usb stick have ID: 0471:209e Windows: USB\VID=0471&PID=209e Chipset: Atheros AR9002U WI1 chip1: Atheros AR9271 Obviously the problem is that VID and PID are not in the drivers. How can I add them?
pci-utils.tcz for pci cards usb-utils.tcz for usb cards have the vid and pids in them, I think the main problem is the kernel is older than your card, you may need a new kernel.
If you have usb-utils installed they are there, also if you can connect to the internet you could try update-usbids.sh "just type it in the terminal". Xiaopan is based on tinycore if you update the kernel you have to update everything else ie graphics wifi etc.
