try unplug and plug your card, if it didn't work, i recommend you try another earlier version e.g 0.4.1

hey, i got the same problem..try use minidwep in xiaopan 0.4.2.2 or xiaopan 0.4.1 if not unplug and plug in port 2.0 usb after the xiaopan start, after that wait a minute

You should be able to connect to it but you don't have N compatible features. It tells you that it is an N network in the picture above: Radio Type 802.11n
Use any card with Atheros chipset , such as AR9271 OR AR9285. Reaver & Reaver Pro recommended to use ath chipset for better hack. I am using Alfa AWUS036H with RTL8187B & he's suck with reaver. &i have tp-link with atheros 9271 << the best choice for hack WPS
didnt awus036h is rtl8187l not rtl8187b what, atheros much better? i just planned want to by alfa luxury set. Is it true Mr. Penguin? that alfa AWUS036h useless with reaver...didnt tacnetsol create Reaver Pro with RTL8187L?

Yes I have ALFA AWUS036H with RTL8187B Not L . when i connect alfa to back track, it's show RTL8187Bve . It's original card , i see the sticker . May be you have another version.
ALFA-550W I think something is very wrong here. The AWUS036h is an rtl8187L device. Either your system is reporting the incorrect card or you got sold a counterfeit one. I suggest you open the casing to find out. The B version is really crappy compared to the L version. Another way to check to see if it is a counterfeit is search for the MAC address using a MAC lookup tool. If the OUI is not ALFA, you got yourself a fake ALFA. There is also a great thread here somewhere that shows you how to spot a fake ALFA along with high resolution images of a real ALFA. If you are still not sure contacting ALFA directly will yield useful answers. Can you please upload the image/s as an attachment in the forum. Much easier for people to see. Here are some pictures I open the cover & i read this info on the main chipset : RTL8187L A6N50Q1 GB21D TAIWAN & the revision is : RTL8187L RV3.0 But i don't understand why windows & backtrack show this card as RTL8187B !!!!!!!!!!! Also , the card has the 3D Sticker
Yay. Download the correct RTL8187L drivers then . That is why you have been having such bad performance. The b version is cheap. I managed to open the RAR but it was no easy task. The card above is genuine, but it's now the newest 2W Alfa... the old 500mW version of the AWUS036H (the difference is that there's no (1) number above the LED) I've one of those old cards.

Antenna will only help but would not guarantee success. After some testing it seems that the ALFA NHA and H perform best.
