Hi all, I'm about to head out on a research expedition aboard a truck, which will be a mobile research unit, and would like to know about good options for an external wifi receptor/emitter, in order to have wifi everywhere. I've done my homework about antennas but I'm abit lost as 'directional' vs 'sector' antennas. Any input will be appreciated.
http://www.interline.pl/ is a good source of antennas. 1) Direcional: Point to something; 2) Sectorial: Cover to a sector. 1) Usually used to target another directional antenna somewhere else. 2) Usually used to broadcast a signal to a certain area like the cell phone antennas. They use this type of antennas because it's easier to ensure long range coverage by placing a 360ยบ array of sectorial antennas instead of an omnidirecional antenna.
Thank you TCB13. Sector antenna seems to be what I will need. I'm trying to get in contact with Interline to get guidance with the particular model that I will need. I'm looking at SECTOR HP 14dBi/2.4GHz http://interline.pl/modules/content/index.php?id=1&s=showcard&code=INT-SEC-14/24-H Feel free to give me your impressions.
Hello, I've got this ones: http://interline.pl/modules/content/index.php?id=1&s=showcard&code=INT-PAN-14/24-HV http://interline.pl/modules/content/index.php?id=1&s=showcard&code=INT-PAN-17/24-HV And I really like them a lot. I don't really see a point in using a sectorial antenna unless you're building a public wifi network.
Thank for the info, I will check em out. I'm still waiting from Interline reply. After 2 emails, they do not respond. Might have to go with Alpha. --- Double Post Merged, 13 Dec 2012 --- Is there any website that can tell me what chipset your model of Interline uses? I would like to know before, and Interline is not responding.
