Hi all i am pretty new and i have no idea if i am writing in the right section...but i have a question: i am trying to use both feedingbottle and minidwep in my vmware xiaopan linux on osx and at certain point both of them asks for a dictionary. feedingbottle reads .txt files while no idea on minidwep what to use, as i understood reading on theese forums he need extention .dic but no clue how to convert the password.txt i found inside the package or how to find a .dic file wich i can use later thru a usb drive for example. apart from that you guys rock. now i am at poorest moment in my life cant even have my own internet connection and thanks to you i could crack a wep and now i am writing on my roof to you. the only problem is inside my house there are only wpa detected and can-t find a way to k one of them (tryed for days but sure something is wrong because i am missing this .txt or .dic files i think) respect.
deka303 Just to make things clear: Feedingbottle is a front-end GUI for the CLI program Reaver-wps. minidwep is the front-end GUI for the Aircrack-NG suite which consists of aircrack-ng, airodump-ng, airmon-ng and many others. I do not believe you are using feedingbottle correctly, the program should at not at any time, request a text file for it's functionality. In-order it use minidwep appropriately for WPA cracking, you simply must direct the application to the full path of the Dictionary file (example: /root/dictionary.txt). With these points brought to light, I would recommend downloading the latest Xiaopan OS and also the SliTaz Version. Once you have tested on those Distributions, it would be of benefit to the community if you could post your success or failure. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Cheers, Aby$m.
Hi and thanks for clarifications. i know i did post a noobish question i'm just new and need to make practice with theese things. looking forward to your suggestion i have latest xiaopan btw. (4.3 right?) goin to try slitaz version asap. btw i try to explain you what happens...when i launch Feedingbottle ( i know is a guy for another prog ) to crack wpa/wpa2 this what i do and what happens: 1) i choose my wonderful tp-link press next 2) i choose wpa/wpa2 enc...and press scan...he finds them (unfortunately the only wep is on the roof...heh) 3)i choose one essid with at least some clients found 4) i press next then i press start and THEN he asks me for a dictionary file ( i found a password.txt on root). 5) i try to go also to advanced mode to see if i can do something like fake auth (by force) (but not sure what i am doing at this point i need to learn more). when trying with minidwep...1) I choose wpa n press scan 2) no idea what i am doing exactly but imagine that following the tuts i press lanch to see if he finds a client...or i try directly dictionary attack...but here the password.txt i found in root doesn't work...he tells me he wants a cap file that i do not know if i have...in a video tut i saw the guy choosing a .dic file and it worked but i don't have it ( or i don't know if i have). I repeat i know i am very noob i do not even know exactly what i am doing since i use computer for video and 3d animation but this what happens to me that's why i was looking for these .dic files but may be is wrong also that i am looking forward to use your version btw and i will keep you up to date. thanks a lot for your reply feedbacks very soon!! peace

But key factor is to have your OS (BackTrack, Kali, Xiaopan) installed and not running live. Otherwhise, everytime you boot your computer, progress will be unsaved. using reaver for wps isnt always an option. some routers dont have wps on and even if they do you may get ap limiting right away.
Yhea reaver its better but have some issues like "not all modems have wps active", "not all modems are vulnerables to reaver" so dictionary attack to handshake file its the best way, so reaver can make a DoS to the modem
Please put all your word lists on normal download . Because i'm downloading from IDM ( Internet download manager ) it almost doubles my speed . Utorrent is too slow
