Hello, I want to buy an antenna that has long range and works fine with Xiaopan and Backtrack-Kali. I need it to support injection, sniffing and of course to be compatible with reaver. I was looking around and i found this: EGASKY Mars_A2416N and I'm wondering is this good? If no, suggest me a cheap antenna who meets these requirements. Thanks in advance
Why do you need such powerful antenna? Start by cracking nearby first. Test your current wlan card/usb adapter first if it support injection or not
[BCOLOR=#ffffff]My current wireless card doesn't support monitor mode and injection that's why i want to buy a usb adapter. I think i will buy AWUS036H 1Watt with 5 dbi antenna and if i want more dbi i will buy an external antenna.I am new to wifi security testing so i needed more information. I have read that works fine with linux and supports injection, also it has a good chipset which is officially supported by reaver. The only thing i am worried about is the fact that it has 'Been replaced with Alfa AWUS036NHA' as i read in a forum. Is that bad for me or i should not worry about it? [/BCOLOR]
I recommend you to buy Original Awus036NHA with external antenna (direct + omni antenna) It will work good
I have heard that ha it has not good range compared to h. I have read many reviews for h and all they say that it works well with reaver and aircrack. In reaver supported chipsets (on google code) i couldn't find ha's chipset and that makes me worry about compatibility. Have you tested ha? Is it easy to setup? I also read this thread https://xiaopan.co/forums/threads/awus036nhr-v-awus036nh-comparison.330/ and i think they agree that h is the best. I dont care about speeds, here we dont have great speeds at all. I think b/g will be good for me (most of routers here are on g). If i want longer range i think i will buy an external antenna but now i want to know which have the best chipset for my job. Also, can you suggest me a seller or site who sells genuine alfa's? I dont want a counterfeit one.☺
do not buy this one http://www.dx.com/p/alfa-usb-6000mw...eless-network-adapter-black-115748#.VJq0qdCsA
I agree mostly with what Crackerz Wave said. The advantage of the 036NHA is nearly all Wifi host processing is offloaded from your cpu in hardware. Which means an old computer wouldn't slow it down as it has it's own cpu and memory. The NHA is known to work in high humidity environments and low signal strengths down to 9 or 10db where the other adapters fall away, is highly compatible with Linux since the firmware is free and is the only adapter to support all 6 wireless modes under Linux. And unlike the 036h has N capability. It's also probably the best adapter for reaver without errors and can grab handshakes very well. Yes sometimes it can show a depressing 1 bar of signal strength for an AP, while 036h shows 5, but on this 1 bar it can connect and be stable and more reliable than the 036h's 5 bar (which cheats anyway). However if the signal is unimpeded and has clear LOS, it's probably the fastest of all the Alfa's on USB 2.0 save for the 051NH which has MISO 2x1 and 5Ghz. The only killer is the drivers can be flaky depending what OS your on. But on the whole, it's a better overall adapter than the 036h technically all round.
