No changes were made to the original files *rtl8187.sys* , it only supports Windows 7/ by the Alpha Company, has been tested on Win8.1 / x86 and did not show any problems.
So it may be the bug of a copy of Windows 8.1 / x64 you have ..
Try Other version 8.1 / x64..

Use version 4 where you can find the link on the top of the topic tried win 7 and works without any problems.
